So the challenge loss was a real bummer. Dave and Sean came through in a big way, but then Greg couldn't pull it out, I didn't come nearly close enough to beat FairPlay, who spent half the day working on the puzzle, and Lil absolutely blew off the challenge, which is unacceptable. So our tribe, which I think has been the most cohesive, has to send home a second person.
So back at camp, I'm freakin out cause I don't know if Sean and Dave and myself should go after Greg or Lil. On the one hand, Greg would be the easy choice because Lil thinks that she's in tight with me and Dave and would be a loyal ally to keep around. But then you have Greg, who everyone thinks has the idol, and who wasn't a no-show for the last challenge. I'm talking through all this with Dave and Sean and i don't know what to do, because i definitely don't want to get stuck at tribal with my two allies and a guy with an idol.
So later, Sean pulls me aside and he's like, "Erik...time to have a real chat. I hope you see this as a sign of trust between us...and I want you to keep it to yourself." And I'm like "NOOOO. SURELY YOU DON'T HAVE..." And Sean just grins at me and gives me a "heh heh".
SEAN HAS THE IDOL! MY FIRST AND CLOSEST ALLY IN THE GAME HAS THE IDOL! ohhh, what a relief that was. So I convince him to also tell our boy, Dave, so he doesn't find out later on and feel out of the loop. And the three of us start discussing which route to go now that we know Greg doesn't have the idol. And obviously, it's more tempting to gun for Greg now that he's vulnerable...but Lil has completely isolated herself. She didn't show for the challenge and hasn't appeared since. And obviously, if she keeps that up, she won't be any use to us post-swap, no matter how loyal she is. So right now, unless Lil shows, and has a damn good explanation, there's some serious consideration to "Bro down" as Dave called it, take out Lil, and stick with our tight group of 4 guys. And I think Greg might even have some connections with the other tribes that can keep us alive after a swap.
So I'm never gonna get too confident cause this is a fickle, fickle game, but I think we're in a okay spot right now. We're the short-handed tribe, but I, being Sean's closest ally, am in one of the power positions on this tribe. So we'll see what happens. But I don't think any surprises are coming our way tonight.
