Well, here I am. After vowing to stay off ORGS, I'm back for a second shot. I'm going to playing as Lil, one of my favorite Survivors of all time - a polarizing sadsack who out of nowhere turned into a badass and took down the biggest Survivor villain of all time. If I can have a storyline anywhere near as awesome this season, I'll be satisfied.
A little about myself. I'm twenty-one. I'm an aspiring horror/fantasy author and playwright from New Jersey. I'm into psychology, swimming, writing, reading, and animation. I'm sort of a cartoon historian and know a shitload about nineties cartoons, which actually might help me in this game. For fun, I even write Survivor fanfiction ....with animated characters. Beat that. (Shameless plug. Google "Survivor: Animation Brawl")
I'm not going to go into any specific detail about my ORG experience, but I will say I played in a very well-known Survivor ORG last year. I had a pretty rough showing. I just wasn't ready for all the crazy, psycho backstabbing yet.
After you've been thrown down in the gutter though, the only way you can go is up. Already, I feel a lot more comfortable with this cast. I feel confident. I feel like I've put myself out there and made decent, grounded connections that I can build from the ground up.
I'm not going to make any promises, but I'm going to do my best to make it as far as humanely possible. If that results in a win, all the better.
Anyway, here are my thoughts on some of the colorful people I've met so far...
DOLLY
Holy shit, what a character. I'm not saying Dolly's crazy or anything. There were just a few things that reallllllllly took me by surprise. Here's an example. On the first night of the game, everyone's making casual small talk. They're talking about their favorite seasons of Survivor. They're talking about the nineties. They're basically avoiding any mention of the game because they don't want to put a target on their back. This is one of Dolly's first interactions with me - only moments after we met.
heyy!

Thanks. I picked her awhile ago, though. I would have went for somebody different if I was allowed to change lol.
Peih-Gee became one of my favorites when I saw China.

i'm rooting for her in second chances, but not too hard, since I don't want to be let down

Interesting her and Andrew Savage are my favorites in that season.

it's an awesome cast. i'm literally fine with anyone winning, as long as it's not Woo.

I'm with you on that one, although I haven't seen Cagayan yet. What does an alliance sound like to you? You seem cool.
Well. This took a combination of fortitude, arrogance, and....genuine assertiveness....that I actually really appreciate.
When everyone's making small talk, you have to really respect someone who doesn't dick around - who just comes flat-out and says that they're ready to play. Dolly's awesome. However, I get the sense that she can be a little micro-managing and controlling. She talked about bringing people into "our alliance" and expressed some weariness toward Stephanie and Sean. I'd like to align with Dolly, mainly because she's placed herself out in the open and seems really loyal, but I'm also skeptical. I think she might overplay and turn herself into a target. She brought up the idea of making it far in the game together. I basically told her that promising any kind of long-term commitment in Survivor is a terrible idea, and she actually seemed to agree. I wonder if the nudging about a finals alliance was sort of her way of...testing me I guess? Right now though, Dolly's my closest ally. If we end up on the same tribe - especially if it's a three tribe division - we'll be in a really good place.

FAIRPLAY
He's incredible. He's so engrossed in the Fairplay persona. Sometimes, it's hilarious - other times, you can't help but wonder if he's going to be a really, really early boot. I figured my best way to break the ice with him was to...play up my "Lil persona," which is actually turning out to be a lot of fun. We didn't really discuss anything major. We just sort of humored each other. It's hard to say if I like him or not, mainly because I haven't seen anything other than the Fairplay act - but I'd freaking love a Lil/Fairplay alliance. If it ends the same way it did in Pearl Islands, all the better.

I didn't have excessive conversations with everyone else, so I'll just leave quick tidbits. Sorry guys...
DAVE
We had a short conversation about Harry Potter and where we're from and stuff. Seems like an all-right guy. I get the sense he's really perceptive though, and has possibly even played several ORGS before. I'm not sure if I feel entirely confident than aligning with him. When we were talking, it sort of seemed like he was sizing me up....
STEPHANIE
Our conversation was short-lived, but I really, really like her - in fact, out of everyone in the cast right now, I'd really like to align with Stephanie. She seems personable, laidback, and knows when to stay out of the radar. That's exactly how I want to play, and coincidentally, it's the same kind of people I want to surround myself with. Dolly doesn't seem to like her for some reason. I'm not sure why - but I can't say I've gotten an extremely good read on her yet, so maybe Dolly has the right to be concerned. Like I said though, I really dig Stephanie and I'm going to try to talk to her tomorrrow.
MALCOLM
This guy buzzed in and buzzed out. We talked briefly, and from the limited exchange we have, I really like him. I don't know. It could just be my genuine fandom love for Malcolm, or maybe even me channeling Lil's attraction toward hip, young jungle boys. Either way, I want to chat more with this guy.
GREG
COCONUT PHONE!!! We had some banter in the beginning with Mike. He was pretty active in the blast chat and seemed really personable. Feel like he's going to be a big threat down the road...
MIKE
First person I talked to. At the time, he had a post-dinner snack of chips and beer. We chatted a little about the wonderful traumas of college food. Then we talked about our majors. He's studying history. I'm studying performing arts. He mentioned he's into theatre and writing - made me connect a lot more with him and see a potential bond going forward.
SEAN
Another short conversation. Talked about Survivor a little - the regular nine yards. He's another one who gives off a devious vibe.
Didn't get a chance to talk to everyone. I'll leave notes on the others soon.
Until tomorrow...
